This month, we are not only excited to share new features on iO, we are also thrilled to introduce a new section on iO called Automation. This new section will enhance the way you manage and manipulate data.
If you are already a customer, you can also go to our helpdesk and check our step-by-step guide to use these new features.
Data Structure
Field duplication
If you are creating a data structure and you have fields with the same configurations but slightly fewer changes, now you can just duplicate the field you need. Let’s say you have a fixed options field named “Your first choice” and have defined ten options to select from, and you want to create a similar field called “Your second choice”. This field can be created by just duplicating the first one. This can be done by clicking on the duplicate icon, available at the right of the field, as shown in the image below.
Features
When a feature is selected, make sure to fill in all required configurations. Otherwise, you won’t be able to save the data structure.
Automation
Automation is a new section added to iO to help you to manipulate your data.
Go to Admin > Automation, and you will find the following subsections:
Apply Formula
This tool allows you to apply an existing formula (from a formula field) or a new formula to all current records in a data table.
It also allows you to save the formula results in any existing field (not only the formula field).
Note that if you create a new formula using this tool, it won’t be saved under your data structure. It will only run once and write the output in the designated field.
Extract Domain Names
This tool will help you extract the domain name from any URLs in your data.
Extract Records of Interest
This tool allows you to move your data, or sub-set of your data, to a new table.
All you need to do is to define the source table, the rule, and the target table. You can also decide which fields you want to move.
Note that the data will remain in the original table. Instead, a copy of the data will be moved to the new table.
Bonus: this tool can also check and remove duplicates.
View Job-status
After you create any job under the above subsections, go to your job, click on the menu and click Run. Then go to View Job status to follow the progress of this job.
Fire Monitor
Upload a KMZ file
We have added the option to upload a KMZ file to define the areas of interest. iO will automatically create a fire monitor for each area (per each feature in the KMZ file).
