What's New in AKTEK iO: March 2025

Intelligence analysts spend a significant portion of their time generating reports and interpreting complex datasets. That’s why this month’s AKTEK iO updates focus heavily on enhancing how intelligence is structured, shared, and analyzed—particularly within the dashboard and data management areas.

Here’s a breakdown of the latest features and improvements now available in AKTEK iO:

Intelligence Management Improvements

Excel Template Generation for Data Tables

To enhance collaboration across teams—including field operators, volunteers, and those without direct access to iO—we’ve introduced the ability to download the data table as an Excel template.

You can now export an empty Excel template for any data table in AKTEK iO. The template includes all predefined columns and values (without data), allowing collaborators—whether field operators, partners, or external teams—to fill in their information offline.

Once completed, it can be re-uploaded into the platform using the import or spreadsheet tools, streamlining field data collection and ingestion.

Smarter Field Mapping During Data Import

We’ve simplified the import process from Excel, Google Sheets, or CSV files.

Now, when mapping fields during import, iO intelligently filters each dropdown to display only destination fields that match the data type of the source field.

This ensures greater accuracy, speeds up the import process, and reduces errors.

Annex Fields: Now Convertible to Text or Number

Annex fields play a vital role in linking intelligence across datasets.

To improve usability and enable broader platform compatibility, you can now convert annex fields into text or numeric fields, depending on their original type.

This makes it easier to analyze annexed data using filters, keywords, thresholds, or statistical models, empowering faster insight retrieval and cross-table analysis.

“Point Not in Polygon” for Extracting Records of Interest

Precision matters when working with geospatial data.

In the automation section under "Extract Records of Interest," you can now upload a KMZ file and extract records that fall outside your defined polygon area.

This is especially useful for refining your analysis—such as excluding urban zones or isolating specific geographic anomalies.

Analysis Improvements

Data Toolbox (DTP): Choose Whether to Replace Existing Records

We’re making the Data Toolbox even more flexible. You can now decide whether each run of a DTP should overwrite the existing records in your destination table.

This is particularly helpful when working with dynamic datasets that require frequent updates and reanalysis, ensuring your outputs stay current without creating redundancy.

These updates continue our mission to help analysts and decision-makers turn raw data into actionable intelligence—faster, smarter, and more collaboratively.
